From “I do’s” to Welcoming Baby Christopher

There’s nothing more special than being invited back into the lives of my wedding couples as they embark on new chapters. That’s exactly what happened with The Nixons, who recently welcomed their precious son, Christopher. It feels like just yesterday I was photographing their wedding, and now I had the honor of capturing their first moments as a family of three during a lifestyle newborn session.

This session was extra meaningful because it took place in their home. Nursery sessions are so sweet! Walking into their home, I immediately noticed their wedding photos displayed on the walls—a beautiful reminder of where their journey began. It felt like we had come full circle, from their “I do’s” to welcoming their sweet baby boy.

In Home Newborn Session

Lifestyle newborn sessions are some of my favorites because they’re relaxed and personal. Julia shared with me her reservations about having her home in picture perfect shape with a newborn in tow. I reassured her that, just like her wedding day, I only a corner and some light to make some magic. Your baby’s nursery is perfect for these! Instead of the posed studio setup, this approach focuses on real, candid moments in the comfort of home. Baby Christopher was absolutely perfect—snuggled up in his parents’ arms and peacefully soaking up all the love around him. We photographed in their living room and nursery, using the natural light streaming through their windows to create a warm, cozy feel. The Nixons were so happy we chose to go the in home session route! I was too!

Some of my favorite shots were capturing The Nixons in the nursery, lovingly caring for Christopher. I really loved that the blue bow on the nursery door was Luke’s as a baby. The casual, behind the scenes look into the day to day, sentimental details, and calm atmosphere made it the perfect backdrop. These moments weren’t just about documenting how tiny Christopher is right now; they were about preserving the emotions and love that filled their home.

It’s always a joy to connect with my couples again and see their love story grow. Thank you, Nixon family, for trusting me with these precious memories!
