Some wedding days are worth the wait, and Lauren and Christopher’s beautiful Heron Pointe at The Wharf wedding was certainly one of them! After having to reschedule their original wedding date due to a hurricane, these two were finally able to celebrate with their family and friends on the most beautiful day. With classic coastal details, heartfelt family moments, and a reception full of dancing, their wedding was such a joy to photograph!

Getting Ready for a Coastal Wedding at The Wharf

Lauren and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready at a nearby beach house, while Christopher and his groomsmen prepared for the day at Heron Pointe at The Wharf.

After hair and makeup were complete, the girls took some fun photos together in their matching pajamas before Lauren changed into her wedding gown. One of my favorite moments with the girls of the morning was Lauren’s wedding dress reveal with her bridesmaids!

Lauren also shared such a sweet moment with her mother as she helped her into her wedding dress. The two have a very special relationship, and it was so meaningful to photograph these quiet moments together before the ceremony.

Emotional First Looks Before the Ceremony

One of the sweetest parts of Lauren and Christopher’s wedding day was all of the emotional first looks!

Lauren shared individual first looks with her brothers and her father, each filled with so much love and emotion. She also shared a beautiful first look with Christopher before their ceremony.

I always love when couples make time for these moments. Not only do they create beautiful photographs, but they also give everyone a chance to slow down and enjoy the excitement of the day together.

I had previously photographed Lauren and Christopher’s engagement session, so it was especially fun to see them again and capture this next chapter of their story!

An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Heron Pointe at The Wharf

Heron Pointe at The Wharf provided such a beautiful setting for Lauren and Christopher’s coastal Alabama wedding. Their ceremony took place outdoors in front of the venue, with gorgeous weather that made the rescheduled wedding date feel even more special.

One of the most meaningful moments was watching Lauren’s mother walk her down the aisle. After photographing their sweet interactions earlier that morning, seeing them share this moment during the ceremony was especially touching.

With their family and friends gathered around them, Lauren and Christopher finally got to say “I do!”

A Classic Blue and White Wedding Reception

The reception design was everything I love about a classic coastal wedding. Lauren and Christopher chose a timeless color palette of blue and white, with abundant florals and candlelight creating such a romantic atmosphere.

Guests enjoyed a plated dinner beneath a beautiful clear tent, complete with flowing white fabric draping, strands of twinkling lights, and a chandelier hanging above the dance floor.

The combination of the clear tent, soft white details, blue accents, and glowing candles was absolutely stunning. Every detail felt elegant, perfectly complementing the coastal setting of Heron Pointe at The Wharf.

As a wedding photographer, I especially loved how the reception space looked as the evening went on and the lights and candles began to glow!

A Night Full of Dancing and Celebration

Lauren and Christopher’s reception was such a fun celebration! Once the dancing began, the dance floor stayed busy, and everyone seemed to be having the best time.

One unique tradition I loved was when Christopher and his groomsmen took a moment to enjoy cigars together. It’s a tradition among their group of friends to share a cigar at each other’s wedding receptions, and I loved getting to document that special memory for them.

Between the dancing, beautiful reception details, and meaningful moments with their favorite people, it was such a wonderful evening.

Lauren and Christopher’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that sometimes a change of plans leads to something even better. After the uncertainty of rescheduling due to a hurricane, they were rewarded with gorgeous weather and a wedding day full of love and celebration.
