High School Sweethearts Engagement Session

There is something especially meaningful about finally meeting a couple in person for engagement their session before the wedding. Victoria and Brayden’s Fairhope engagement session was exactly that. Although I had been working with Victoria’s mom throughout the booking process, this was my first time meeting the two of them. By the end of the evening, it felt like we had known each other for years. This time is so important to the final wedding day experience!

As high school sweethearts, Victoria and Brayden have already shared so many milestones together, and it was easy to see how comfortable they are with one another. They are planning an April wedding, and after spending the evening photographing them around Fairhope, I cannot wait for their wedding day.

Downtown Fairhope Engagement Photos

We began their engagement session in downtown Fairhope, where Victoria wore a beautiful short blue dress paired with heels, while Brayden kept things classic with jeans, boots, and a white button-down shirt. Since blue will be one of their wedding colors, we intentionally sought out locations throughout downtown that incorporated blue tones into the backgrounds. Those subtle details help tie an engagement session back to a couple’s wedding story while creating a cohesive look across everything from save-the-dates to wedding décor.

One of my favorite parts of any engagement session is giving couples a chance to slow down and simply enjoy being together. These sessions aren’t just about beautiful photographs. They also help my couples become comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day. By April, Victoria and Brayden will already know exactly what to expect, making portraits feel relaxed and natural.

A Second Outfit and a Change of Scenery

After exploring downtown, we headed toward Mobile Bay for the second half of their session. Changing outfits and locations gave everyone a chance to cool off in the air conditioning for a few minutes, which is always appreciated during an Alabama summer. While they changed, I photographed Victoria’s gorgeous engagement ring, a timeless three-stone radiant diamond set in yellow gold. So pretty!

For their second look, Victoria wore a flowing white dress while Brayden changed into a blue button-down shirt with khakis. The softer wardrobe paired perfectly with the waterfront scenery as the evening light became more golden.

Golden Hour Portraits Along Mobile Bay

We finished their engagement portraits beneath Fairhope’s iconic moss-covered oak trees before walking into the sand along the shoreline just as the sun began to set – Golden hour! The calm water, warm light, and gentle breeze created the perfect ending to an already beautiful evening. The sunset made for such a warm glow that was so romantic!

Why This Fairhope Engagement Session Location Is So Popular

This combination of downtown Fairhope and Mobile Bay has become one of my favorite engagement session locations. It offers so much variety within a short drive and has become an excellent alternative to the Grand Hotel. While I absolutely love photographing sessions there, the property has specific photography policies that can limit availability.
